I have to say that I have been in a very good debate with FBIHOP on this blog and he has written a great piece on his point of view on his blog entitled Geoffrey Nunberg on the Usage of "Aliens".
I do not agree with persons in this country without proper paperwork being called "Immigrants", and I do think "Illegal" may be a bit harsh after reading FBIHOP's article...
How about, as Professor Nunberg points out, we use the phrase "Undocumented", which is in effect what they are.
