23 Rounds of Golf

So, according to most news outlets, President Obama has played 23 rounds of golf since he became President. I personally couldn't care less about how the President spends his free time or relaxes. Frankly, it is kind of nice that we have a President young enough to play a pickup game of basketball or a full round of golf.

However, the number 23 does seems a bit excessive. I'm not a golfer, but I do know about how long it takes to play a round. Since Obama has only been President for 40 weeks (if I counted correctly from January 20th) then more than once every two weeks seems a bit much.

You'd think with all that time on the course to contemplate the universe, he would have made a decision on the Afghan troops by now.

##That's my opinion##

How pathetic has the apparent opposition party become that they've relegated themselves to such a juvenile status that their complaints are centered on the president's dog, the shoes his wife is wearing, his use of a teleprompter, his appearance on Letterman (or was it Leno or both?), and now the number of rounds of golf he's played.

You do see the problem with the constant obsessive criticism by the Republican party for the most trivial and mundane things don't you?

What happens is bit of a chicken little effect in that when they go around and criticize the president for such trivialities, when it becomes necessary to criticize him on substantive issues and policies, their criticisms become watered down. They have no impact because it simply gets bogged down and wrapped into the whole "criticizing everything the president does".

It's pathetic that they've relegated themselves to a mirror image of the Bush hating ilk.

I would agree Soapie except that is DOES look bad to have time to play that much golf and not seem to care about the war.

Absolutely it does but then frame the issue about him not yet making a committment on Afghanistan and leaving the soldiers over there in limbo. It gets petty taking the golf route.

Soapbox, did you even read my post? I said that I don't really care how the President spends his spare time and that I like having a President that is young enough to play sports.

Don't you think one round of golf per month would be enough for the President of the U.S.? Doesn't he have more pressing matters to attend to? You mentioned Afghan - that's a good start.

And just for the record, I'm not a Republican.

And as far as watering something down - I thank you for not calling me a racist for criticizing the President, which seems to be the order of the day.

I was not referring to you directly LG. Notice I said the apparent opposition party (i.e., the Republicans). They're really doing themselves a huge disservice by their criticisms of the most trivial and mundane things. Must be why the emergence of a 3rd party is looking all the more enticing to voters who previously ignored them.

Understood and agree Soapbox. A third party is looking more likely.
