It's not about race

I here so many people say that they are voting for Obama because of Change. I ask "What Change" and they typically say something like 'the Government'. When pressed they start to accuse me of not voting for Obama because he is black.

?!What?!

No. I have stated over and over again, even when the nomination was stolen from Hillary that it's about Socialism vs. Capitalism (IMHO) and it is never about anything more than that.

This is not an election to confirm that we have put the sins of slavery and race behind us. Race should not matter to us anymore (although people keep bringing it up!) It should be about qualifications, about ideas, about what can be done with our country, about returning to rugged individualism. I long for a leader like Reagan who challenged us (Americans) to be better. Or JFK who challenged us to be better. Not a leader who challenges us by looking at the polls, or by fear mongering.

WWRD?

This election is definitely about race. Geraldine Ferraro was right, if a white candidate with Barack's exact resume was running for President, there's no way that he would have been chosen the nominee. Just write down on a piece of paper Barack's resume, and then honestly ask yourself if you would vote for this person for President. If you have any intellectual honesty at all, the answer has to be NO!

That's exactly what the Obama campaign says. Read barackobama.com. You may not believe it, but that's what it says. Don't read between the lines, read the text. Don't interpret, read the text. Don't let the fears you bear cloud your mind, read the text. Don't listen to what your friends/enemies say, read the text. See for yourself, with you heart, mind and soul. That's Obama's program and campaign. I'm not asking you to believe it, I'm asking you to acknowledge. I'm not asking you to vote for it, I'm asking you to admit that it's there, in plain English.

And this is what I think: a white guy, with an English name (such as "Barry Hobammer"), and BHO's resume...

would win hands down. He would have been nominated by both parties (OK, I'm exaggerating there...). But because he is black, has an Arabic middle name, an African last name, and a weird first name, and was born in a remote state, lived abroad, worked in Chicago... JSM will find every excuse to invalidate his qualifications or voting record by instilling fear in its constituents. That's shameful. Elections should be based on ideas, philosophies, perspectives and knowledge. Using fear as a political tool is simply despicable. Sorry. There is no excuse, "Lucid" guy. You're part of the problem, not part of the solution. BHO is a self-made man, a man who *is* the American dream, he stands for what he believes in. JSM is a child of power and wealth, who never stood for anything, whom we could only emulate by being reborn into the womb of a wealthy woman. Sorry, that's not the kind of man we need in the White House.

Glad to hear that you are standing up to the idiots who are accusing you of discrimination. The decision is a social / political one...it has nothing to do with race.
