Imus get's fired... Granted that is no great loss to Radio.
Then there is this article on Yahoo:
Imus firing should not end U.S. race debate: experts
What experts? What race debate? Why is this still a problem in America?
Ask yourself this question: Who makes money off the 'race issue'? Does mainstream America really care about the 'race issue'? Is there really a problem? Is Imus just part of an OLD problem?
This is just stupid. Take a look at how bigoted Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are. This is all about money... and power for Al and Jessie. They are never held accountable for what they have said or continue to say. Yet they scream and complain when something happens like with Imus.
Do I agree with what Imus said? No. Ultimately, does it matter what I think? Only if I choose not to listen to Imus (I never did anyway, Michael Savage has more listeners and I don't listen to him either). Let the free market decide. Why do we give power to those who don't deserve it?
When are we going to wake up and realize that we are all Americans, and that we should all be here for America, and that sometimes people do stupid things. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? What ever happened to forgiveness? Where are the compassionate people now?
Check out what a popular Brit has to say about being in America here.
Wake up people... We are all in this together... we are all Americans.

If he had called them merely "hose" would people think they were used to wash cars? Seriously tho, the race debate should be wether NASCAR should go back to using real stock cars or stop calling the cars by the brand names they are loosely patterned after. Next time any person calls me by any racial reference, I'm calling them Fat Al even if they are skinny.
Yes indeed I agree let the market decide the outcome, not a few blow hards. Things become an issue when we CHOOSE to make them an issue.
I think my favorite part of this whole issue was the statement from those who control Hip Hop claiming that their use of the same terminology is poetry and artistic expression. Double standard strikes again.
amy,
You got that right! The double standard is alive and well in the world.
